Ingredients
6 cups whole milk, warmed
2 cups heavy whipping cream
1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tsp pure vanilla extract
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Directions
  1. Using a large slow cooker, combine the whole milk, cream, condensed milk, cocoa powder and vanilla.
  2. Whisk for 1 minute to incorporate the cocoa. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  3. Cook on low for 1 hour, and whisk again.
  4. Cook for 1 more hour. Whisk again before serving.

Variations:

  • Peanut Butter Cup Hot Cocoa
    1. Add 3 tablespoons of smooth peanut butter to the milk mixture before cooking.
    2. Toppings: marshmallows, peanut butter cups, chopped peanuts, shaved chocolate, caramel sauce.
  • Spiked Orange Hot Cocoa
    1. After cooking, whisk in some Kahlúa, bourbon, rum or flavored vodka.
    2. Toppings: whipped cream, orange peel or zest, finely grated chocolate.
  • Peppermint Hot Cocoa
    1. Swap the vanilla extract for peppermint extract.
    2. Toppings: whipped cream, crushed (and/or whole) candy canes, fresh mint, mini chocolate chips
